The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has saved N192billion through technology transfer agreements between 2010 and 2016, the Director General, Dr Danazumi Ibrahim, has said.

Dr Ibrahim, who disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja, said the money would have gone out of Nigeria in capital flight but for the agency’s efforts.

He said N188.2bn was saved between 2010 and 2014 while $10million (about N4bn) was saved between 2015 and this year. 

“Between 2010 and 2014, we have saved this nation N188.2bn that would have gone out as capital flight. How do we save this money? When an agreement comes to us, we look at the content and if we see anywhere we think Nigerians can handle we insist Nigerians should handle that’,’ said

   More than 90% of Nigerian economy is run by foreign technologies and the country loses a lot of money annually through this, according to the NOTAP DG.
