Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a notorious criminal kingpin linked to multiple kidnappings, cattle rustling, and armed robberies that have plagued rural communities for years.
The suspect, identified as Abashe Gizo, a male with no fixed address, was apprehended at Shinge Market in Lafia, the headquarters of Lafia Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, said the suspect was captured during a high-risk operation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), following credible intelligence.
Our correspondent reports that Gizo, long on the police command’s wanted list, had managed to evade capture through a network of hideouts until a breakthrough in intelligence led to his arrest.

Nansel said upon arrest, the suspect confessed to his involvement in several high-profile crimes, including the abduction of residents and the theft of large herds of cattle across the Doma Local Government Area and other regions.
SP Nansel added that Gizo later guided investigators to his hideout in Ruwan Baka village, Doma LGA, where an AK-49 rifle (Breach No. 453144) and a loaded magazine were recovered, hidden at the location.
The operation follows closely on the heels of another major breakthrough involving Fatima Salisu, a suspected arms courier arrested last week while allegedly transporting ammunition from Doma to Katsina State.
Authorities are investigating possible links between the two suspects, pointing to a wider criminal network spanning multiple states.
