But last Thursday’s incidents in Abuja and Kaduna have given men of the press a totally new and picture of the uprising. The apparently coordinated attacks on newspaper offices was indication that this war knows no bounds. Methink the media are the ones giving Boko Haram the fillip by their (media’s) sensational reporting of the group’s activities. I have at different times heard government officials warn the press against giving undue publicity to the group.

Now, the same Boko Haram is accusing the press of wrong doing. The sect’s spokesperson, Abul Qaqa was quoted last Thursday as saying that newspaper houses had sinned against his organisation and should, therefore, expect more fire.

Well, from what we have seen, it appears Boko Haram is becoming more and spikier. How then can the much talked about dialogue between the group and government work?
