The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has disclosed its intention to generate N95 billion as revenue before the end of 2015 with the introduction of the Revenue Invoicing Management Systems (RIMS) into its portal.
Managing Director of NPA, Habib Abdulahi revealed this at the official flag-off of RIMS in Lagos yesterday, adding that the introduction of RIMS was part of efforts put in pace by the management to block revenue leakages at the nation’s seaports
He said  though RIMS would officially kick off next month, the solution would help the NPA to generate about N55 billion from cargo-based revenue, noting that Authority generated N40 billion from cargo-based revenue in 2014.
According to Abudallahi, “RIMS would allow customers to initiate and conclude their business processes with NPA and also communicate with the agency. The introduction of this system has the potential to improve our service offering, improve our partner relationship, create efficient payment method, maximise revenue and minimise loss associated with fraud and revenue leakage.
“The customer self service portal on the other hand provides a platform for our customers to initiate and conclude their business process with NPA and also communicate with us. The benefits accruing from this portal includes improved customer service delivery; easy access to customer accounts status; viewing of all transactions and status in respect of bills; electronic upload of manifest and e-invoice and e-receipt generation.”
