Barau FC technical adviser, Ladan Bosso, has expressed optimism that his side will recover from their slow start to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The Maliya Boys have managed only two draws and one defeat in their opening three matches, leaving them 17th on the table. Bosso admitted that his side has been blunt in attack but promised to improve the squad.

“As it is, every team in the league, we are looking for a good striker. If there is any that is without a club that means he isn’t good enough but I will try to bring out the best from what I have on ground,” Bosso told the club’s media.

Barau FC have scored just once in three outings and will be aiming to improve when they face Ikorodu City in Lagos on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Katsina United head coach, Azeez Mohammed, has urged his team to remain mentally strong after a promising start to the campaign.

The Chanji Boys sit fifth with six points, having won two of their three matches, including a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kano Pillars at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium last weekend.

“My boys played according to instructions, they make me proud, I want to urge them to keep fighting. This is just the beginning; we have a very long way to go,” Mohammed told Nigerian Players Gallery.

Katsina United travel to Umuahia next, where they will face Abia Warriors in a matchday four clash.
