The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board has slammed Nasarawa United with a series of fines and sanctions following multiple breaches of the league’s Framework and Rules during their match against Plateau United on Sunday.

According to the NPFL, the Lafia-based club failed in its primary responsibility to ensure adequate and effective security at the venue, which led to unauthorized individuals gaining access to restricted areas and harassing both the visiting team and match officials.

Further investigations revealed that Nasarawa United’s supporters were responsible for disturbances that escalated into violent conduct, including the assault of Plateau United players. Of particular concern was the vicious attack on Plateau United player Vincent Temitope, which the league board noted was with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.

As a result of these grave infractions, the NPFL has banished Nasarawa United to the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, where they will now play their home matches for the remainder of the season.

In addition, the club has been fined N2 million—N1 million for failure to provide adequate security, and another N1 million for failing to control their supporters. A further N3 million fine has been imposed for persistent breaches of the NPFL’s rules.

Nasarawa United will also pay N1 million in compensation and medical expenses for Vincent Temitope, bringing the total fine to N6 million.
