Former champions, Kano Pillars, are yet to record a win in the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season following a 1-0 loss away to Katsina United in the Match Day 3 encounter at the Umaru Dikko Stadium, Katsina yesterday.

The Masu Gida had kicked off their campaign losing 3-0 to defending champions, Akwa United, before securing a barren draw against Lobi Stars last weekend.

Katsina United’s Abba Umar’s third-minute goal was enough to pile more miseries on the visiting side who are rooted at the bottom of the table with just a point. The hosts moved up the ladder to 15th position with three points.

In Minna, Niger Tornadoes and Abia Warriors shared the spoils of war as the game ended 1-1 at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.

Martins Ursule had put the hosts in the driving seat in the 34th minute but Yakub Hammed got the all-important equalizer in the 53rd minute.

With this result, Tornadoes moved to 9th position with 4 points while Warriors also moved to 7th position with 4 points

At the conclusion of this round, Remo Stars top the table with 7 points but are ahead of Akwa United and Rivers United who are also on the same points due to a better goal difference of +5.
