The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has approved the relocation of Katsina United’s home matches from the New Jos Stadium to the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl in Ilorin where they will continue to play behind closed doors.

This directive was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Mr. Davidson Owumi.

 “We wish to inform you that after a careful evaluation of the logistics involved in hosting your home fixtures at the Jos City Stadium, with respect to the available facilities therein, it has been decided as follows:

“That Katsina United play their home fixtures at the Rasheed yekini Main bowl of Ilorin Township Stadium.

“That adequate provision of match day logistics should be made available to the concerned football association.

“That strict and supervised security protocol must be put in place and observed for all matches,” the statement reads in part.

Katsina United were also warned to desist from field encroachment and harassment of match officials.

It will be recalled that in a summary jurisdiction following the crowd trouble during the match day 12 fixture against neighbours Barau FC, the NPFL banished Katsina United to the Jos City Stadium.

In addition, Katsina United were fined N9m for various breaches of the NPFL Framework and Regulations.

Irate fans believed to be supporters of Katsina United had invaded the pitch and attacked players and officials of Barau FC after Orji Kalu scored to level the scores at 1-1.
