In a pulsating Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash, Remo Stars displayed grit and depth as they clawed back from a two-goal deficit to force a 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Lobi Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Despite playing away from home due to the absence of a home ground, Lobi Stars took control early in the rescheduled Matchday 30 tie. Johnmark Aule opened the scoring in the 35th minute before Onyekachi Okafor doubled the lead from the penalty spot just seven minutes later, sending Lobi into the break with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.
Remo Stars turned to their bench for inspiration, and it paid off. Substitute Hadi Haruna pulled one back in the 56th minute, and fellow substitute Abah Joseph struck the equaliser in the 70th, completing a spirited comeback.
With the result, Remo Stars maintain their lead at the top of the NPFL standings, six points clear of second-placed Rivers United.
The Sky Blue Stars as Remo Stars are known also join Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes as the clubs with the highest number of unique goal scorers this season—17 different players have found the net.
With six matches left, the title race promises more twists as the season approaches its final stretch.
