The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, has commended traditional rulers for their support for immunisation and other areas of the agency’s mandate.

He made the commendation when the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage,  led a delegation on a visit to him at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

He said he was grateful for the visit of the monarch in recognition of the work the agency is doing for Nigerians, adding that it has spurred him to do more towards the realization of the mandates of the agency.

Dr Shuaib said the presence of the monarch will further enhance the bond between the traditional institutions and the agency, given the long and fruitful collaboration that ensued during the fight against the Wild Polio Virus in the country through the establishment of the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee on Primary Healthcare on polio eradication.

He said the agency has developed clear strategies on reducing maternal and child mortality, strengthening primary health care and immunization coverage as well as eradicating wild polio virus. He said outstanding progress has been made in these areas.

Earlier, the royal father, Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage, said he was in the agency to congratulate the Executive Director on his reappointment by President Buhari.

He said the state was elated with the reappointment of Dr. Shuaib and would soon pay President Muhammadu Buhari a thank you visit for extending the tenure of one of their illustrious sons.

The Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Board and Chairman, Forum of Executive Secretaries of States Primary Healthcare Development Boards, Dr. Adis Muhammad, said that by winning the fight against polio, Dr. Shuaib has not only made Nasarawa State and Nigeria proud but the entire black race.

Chairman, NPHCDA Governing Board, Alhaji Attahiru Salihu Aliero (Dallatun Gwandu), said he was delighted to work with Dr. Faisal Shuaib because he was hardworking and listened to advice.
