The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has successfully conducted its 2027 promotion examination across its operational districts nationwide, in a coordinated exercise that underscores the Corporation’s commitment to merit-based career progression and institutional growth.
The examination, which took place simultaneously last week Wednesday, was organized for staff on Grade Levels 08 to 13 and recorded a significant turnout of participants drawn from various departments of the Corporation.
Over 3000 members of staff sat for the promotion examination, reflecting both the scale of the exercise and the enthusiasm of personnel for career advancement within the NRC.
The centres where the examinations were conducted include the Corporation’s Headquarters in Lagos, Lagos District (Ebute-Metta), Western District (Ibadan), Eastern District (Enugu), North Western District (Minna), Northern District (Zaria), North Eastern District (Bauchi), North Central District (Kafanchan), as well as the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) and Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridors.
To ensure transparency, credibility, and strict adherence to laid-down procedures, top management officials from the Administration and Human Resources Department were deployed to supervise the exercise across the various centres.
The Director, Administration and Human Resources, Dr. Monsurat Omotayo, personally supervised and monitored the examination at the Headquarters and Lagos District centres.
Addressing staff prior to the commencement of the examination, Dr. Omotayo emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and compliance with examination rules and regulations.
She urged candidates to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the standards of the Corporation, noting that the promotion exercise is designed to reward diligence, competence, and commitment to duty.
In a demonstration of transparency and due process, the sealed examination papers were publicly opened by Dr. Omotayo in the presence of officials and candidates before the commencement of the exercise, after which the examination proceeded smoothly across all centres.
Reports from the various districts indicated that the exercise was conducted successfully without major incidents, with candidates demonstrating a high level of preparedness and professionalism throughout the process.
The NRC management reaffirmed that the promotion examination remains a critical component of its human capital development strategy, aimed at motivating staff, enhancing productivity, and ensuring that the Corporation continues to build a competent workforce capable of delivering efficient and reliable rail services across the country.
The successful conduct of the 2027 promotion examination further reflects the Corporation’s resolve to uphold fairness, transparency, and excellence in its personnel management processes.
