NRC hosts media leaders’ summit in Abeokuta as delegates laud rail experience

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) recently hosted media stakeholders aboard the Lagos–Ibadan Train Service (LITS) as delegates travelled to Abeokuta for the 4th Nigerian Media Leaders’ Summit.
The media delegates boarded the train at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Train Station, Lagos, and were conveyed comfortably to the Wole Soyinka Train Station, Abeokuta, where the summit was held. The delegates also successfully returned to Lagos by train after the event.
The summit, themed “Reset, Rebuild and Reposition Nigerian Media for National Development,” brought together editors, broadcasters, publishers and communication professionals from across the country to deliberate on the future of the Nigerian media industry and its role in national development.
Speaking during the journey, Chairman of the Organising Committee, Taiwo Obe, said the decision to travel by train was deliberate, describing rail transportation as safe, convenient and ideal for fostering interaction among participants.
According to him, the train ride created a peaceful and stress-free atmosphere that encouraged networking, bonding and professional engagement among media leaders ahead of the summit.
Also speaking, Nkanu Egbe said more than 60 media leaders from different parts of the country gathered in Abeokuta to discuss critical issues affecting the Nigerian media landscape.
Egbe commended the Nigerian Railway Corporation for its support and hospitality toward the media industry.
“The NRC has consistently remained a dependable partner to the media through its hospitality, professionalism and friendly services,” he said.
Some of the delegates also praised the comfort and smoothness of the journey, noting that the rail service offered a relaxing and enjoyable travel experience compared to the stress often associated with road transportation.
Officials of the Corporation explained that the initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to deepen stakeholder engagement while also showcasing improvements in rail operations, passenger comfort and onboard services on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor.
The successful movement of the delegates to and from Abeokuta further highlighted the growing role of rail transportation as a reliable option for conferences, corporate movements and major national events.
