When Jonathan came to formally receive Bafarawa into the party last year, he assured the president that he would deliver the state 100 percent to him during the presidential election. “Mr. President go home and sleep, we will deliver Sokoto to you, you will get all the votes from the state,” he said. However, result from Isa Local Government Area where Bafarawa comes from showed that APC defeated PDP by about 8,000 votes.
The eldest son of the former governor, Sagir Bafarawa, who vied for Isa/Sabon Birni Federal Constituency seat on the platform of PDP was defeated by Engineer Aminu Sani Isa of APC who polled 85,512 votes against Sagir’s 24,788 votes.
The leader of the party and Coordinator, Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Campaign in the state, Barrister Mukhtari Shagari did not deliver his local government to the President as result from Shagari put APC on top with a landslide victory.
In Shagari, APC scored 26,696 votes while PDP got 6,396 votes only. The National Security Adviser, Dasuki and governorship candidate of PDP in the state, Ambassador Abdallah Wali were defeated by Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of the All Progressives Congress (APC). APC scored 51,701 votes as against 7,282 votes by PDP.
