Elegbeleye noted that Okoya Thomas has left an indelible mark in sports’ promotion and sponsorship, especially in the game of table tennis.
“The National Sports Commission commiserates with the family of late sports philanthropist and business mogul Chief Molade Okoya Thomas on the death of their beloved one whose death is a great loss to the country and Nigerian sports in particular. When I heard of the news (on Monday) I was shocked. We loved him but God loved him most and he will be sorely missed by all of us.
“The late Chief Okoya Thomas for over four decades now has sponsored the popular tennis competition tagged Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championship and by that has helped in producing many notable stars in the game and his commitment to the promotion and development of sports in the country has been incomparable.
