According to the Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Dr, Patrick Ekeji arrangements for the conference have been concluded and what is now left is for the meeting to commence.

Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, the Director General said even the inspection team from the AU Secretariat was pleased with preparations for the conference which will hold at NICON Luxury hotel.

“Already, arrangements have been made for the accommodation, security, transportation and other necessary logistics to ensure a hitch-free conference,’’ Ekeji said.

Ekeji in addition disclosed that conference would also host the extraordinary meeting of the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa and the secretariat of the Council would be located in Nigeria with the country’s minister of Sports, Engineer Sani Ndanusa as Chairman.

“Already, observers from UN, UNESCO, IOC and ANOCA as well as delegates from various sports confederations and other NGOs in Africa have indicated interest in attending the conference,’’ he said.

Ekeji said the conference among other things formulate policy frame work for sports development in Africa and also discuss the next All Africa games.

Meanwhile, the first batch of delegates for the conference will arrive the country on October 7 while the last batch would arrive on October 10.
