Two suspected robbers have been arrested at the Benin Central hospital by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over alleged stealing from the women in maternity ward of the hospital.

It was gathered that the suspects, Lucky Ogbebor, 28, and Abubakar Zibiri, 27, were arrested while running away with their stolen items after their operation at the hospital.

It would be recalled that last month, patients and their relatives at the hospital locked out staff and out-patients of the hospital over incessant armed robbery attacks.

NSDC Public Relations Officer, Efosa Ogbebor, said following the reports that patients were being robbed at the hospital, NSDC deployed its officials to guard it.

According to him, the alarm raised by the women led to the arrest of the suspects. Ogbebor said other members of the gang were still at large while the arrested suspects would soon be handed over to the police.

He listed the items recovered from the suspects to include stabilisers, air-conditioners, clothes and office equipment.
