The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, arrested a suspected fraudster for attempt to defraud three unsuspecting members of the public the sum of N360,000 under the guise of securing employment for them with NSCDC and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
One of the suspects, Nasiru Babandi Abba of Kazaure Local Government Area in Jigawa State, was uncovered when one the victims, Malam Inusa, became suspicious of the arrangement that his son should pay N120,000 to be issued with an employment letter of the NSCDC.
The suspect, it was gathered, had already collected the sum of N1,700 from his victim, Musa Inusa, being alleged fee for obtaining a recruitment form for him. Upon receiving a complaint from Inusa, operatives of the NSCDC arranged with him to invite the suspect to bring the appointment letter as the money agreed upon was ready and that led to his arrest. When a search was conducted in the suspect’s residence, three forged appointment letters of NSCDC were reportedly found in his possession. While investigation was on going, two other victims, Idris Isa and Ismaila Isa, reportedly came forward with two forged copies of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) employment letters issued to them by the suspect on an agreed sum of N120,000 each, out of which N20,000 had already been paid to the suspect. The spokesman of the state command of NSCDC, SC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that as soon as investigation was completed he would be arraigned.
