Operatives of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested suspected vandals allegedly involved in the destruction of armoured electrical cables in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State.
The command disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, following credible intelligence and swift intervention by its operatives after a distress alert from members of the community.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, confirmed the arrest, saying that some already vandalised armoured cables were recovered from the scene.
While commending residents of the Amuwo-Odofin community for their cooperation and timely information sharing, he stated that the information led to the successful operation.
According to him, the breakthrough was part of ongoing efforts by the command to tackle vandalism and protect critical national assets across the state.
He stressed that collaboration between residents and security agencies remains vital in combating criminal activities, especially the vandalism of public infrastructure.
He revealed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
