The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 35,000 personnel to provide security nationwide as Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This is contained in a statement by the NSCDC spokesperson, CSC Babawale Afolabi, on Thursday in Abuja.
Afolabi said that the corps Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, had directed Zonal Commanders alongside state Commandants to oversee the deployment within their jurisdiction.
The statement quoted Audi as saying that the deployment was an attempt to ensure tight security before, during and after the Easter celebration.

He said that the officers and men are also to ensure adequate protection of all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the country.
Audi directed operatives of the anti-vandal unit, Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS), Transport and Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and Special Force among others to ensure round-the-clock surveillance.
He said that the corps would be working in collaboration with sister agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
