NSCDC gives 580 recruits uniforms in Ogun

The Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Commandant General, Assistant Commandant, Sam Maigari, who spoke on behalf of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Adewale Abolurin, at the distribution exercise in Abeokuta recently, said that the uniforms will be provided for the new intakes nationwide.
Maigari stressed that as part of government policy, the organisation has made adequate provisions for the distribution of the uniforms and other paraphernalia of office at no cost borne by the new intakes. “I want to assure you that it will get to you at no cost at all. It is a government policy which has to be fulfilled. We are starting here today and it will go round nationwide.”
The PSO however assured that there was no need for the new recruits to be lobbying for the uniform, saying, “you do not have to phone a senator or a governor to get your uniform. The Dr. Abolurin-led NSCDC will not fail to do it because provision have been made for it. So, I want to again, reassure you that very soon, it will go round every new intake of the NSCDC.”
On corruption charges, the new intakes were told to take the training and orientation programmes, “seriously, as you must have been told that corruption is a curse here at NSCDC. If any officer has asked you to bring this or that, feel free to report that person. And that is the message we are passing to you too; that we abhor corruption here. It is integrity and intelligent service delivery here. The Commandant General sends his best wishes and hope that you will reciprocate this gesture by putting in your best to the service of your fatherland,” Maigari disclosed.
Speaking with our correspondent, Maigari said that the training was an on-going process, but since some sets of the uniforms were ready it was decided to be given to the recruits, hinting that about 580 uniform sets were ready for distribution.
Reacting to the gesture, one of the recruits, Isiaq Shakirat Adeyemi, expressed satisfaction over the manner which the organisation has been responding to their needs since the orientation training started about four weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC has organised a sensitisation programme for senior officers in the southwest zone, comprising Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti states (Zone F) and Lagos state (Zone A). The aim of the one day training held at the NSCDC Training College, Abeokuta, was to prepare the senior officers for the process of absorbing the newly recruit personnel.
