The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects and recovered a vehicle loaded with vandalized railway sleepers in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
The corps’ spokesman, Saminu Yusuf, confirmed the incident in a statement in Bauchi.
Yusuf said the suspects were apprehended on July 29, following credible intelligence reports.
He said NSCDC operatives intercepted a white Peugeot J5 bus with registration number KTG 40 XF, which was loaded with 80 pieces of railway sleepers and four bags of charcoal.
According to Yusuf, the State Commandant, Oloyede Oyerinde, has commended the operatives for their swift response. (NAN)
FRSC arrests 15,145 traffic offenders in Ondo in 6 months
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has arrested at least 15,145 traffic offenders between January and July of this year.
Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, the state’s FRSC Sector Commander, disclosed this information in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.
He explained that the offenders were booked for a total of 15,536 violations. The offenses included, according to him are seat belt violations, riding a motorcycle without a crash helmet, number plate violations, speeding, overloading and using a phone while driving.
Ibitoye said his personnel are on the road seven days a week to enforce traffic rules and regulations with the goal of reducing road traffic accidents.
