The Rivers State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, paraded 35 suspects allegedly involved in illegal bunkering and diversion of petroleum products.
A total of 10 trucks, two cars and three buses confiscated from the suspects were also displayed before journalists.
Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Mohammed Lawal Haruna, said they were arrested few weeks ago.
He said between September and October this year, the command arrested suspected oil vandals that concealed illegally refined AGO in polythene bags along Ogbakiri and others who were jointly arrested with a vessel loaded with suspected stolen crude oil along Irobo-kiri Chevron flow station.
He said the command has zero tolerance on economic crime such as oil bunkering and urged those involved in the criminal activities to desist or face the wrath of the law.
