The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has secured 67 convictions out of 237 cases it filed in the first quarter of this year.

The state commander, Mohammed Durumin Iya, said out of the cases recorded, there were 111 criminal and 126 civil cases.

He said 31 cases were awaiting trial while 13 others had been transferred to other sister agencies for further action.

Iya said the criminal cases included theft, burglary, vandalism, breach of trust, sales and consumption of controlled drugs and other psychotropic substances, indecency, rape and rape-related offences.

"Criminal cases recorded include, 33 thefts, 21 burglaries,  five vandalizations, 18 sales and consumption of controlled drugs and other psychotropic substance, 16 breach of trust, seven gross indecency, three rape and rape related cases.

"Out of the criminal cases, convictions were secured on 67 cases while 31 are awaiting trial. Thirteen cases were transferred to relevant agencies for further investigation and possible conviction," he said.
