Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) deployed to Ekiti State for today’s much anticipated governorship election have alleged been shortchanged by senior officers in the payment of their allowances for the poll.
Some of them told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that apart from non-payment of the allowances, some of them would not receive any money until Monday, when the exercise would have been completed. Those from Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Kwara states alleged that they must have been shortchanged. But the state’s spokesman of the corps, Tolu Afolabi, said: “We have been adequately paid for this national assignment. Dispel all rumours from mischief makers. The DCG Operations, Mr. Kelechi Madu, has addressed our officers on the election operations, and warned all to maintain decorum during the poll.”
