NSF: Adeleye wins first medal for Ekiti in weightlifting

Abayomi Adeleye has won the first medal for Ekiti State at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta after he settled for bronze in the weightlifting 55kg category.

While speaking on the feat, he expressed his joy for winning the medal and hoped it would inspire his teammates to win medals for Ekiti State.

The Technical Advisor to Governor Oyebanji on Sports Development, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, expressed joy that Ekiti has commenced the games on a good note, saying she was optimistic that the state would win more medals as the Games progresses.

She, therefore, encouraged other athletes representing the state in Ogun to put in their best performances.

“The bronze medal is a good omen. It is a proof that Ekiti State is not in Ogun State for a jamboree. I urge our athletes to emulate Adeleye by making podium appearances in their respective events.

“On our part, we shall do everything possible to motivate them to win,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ekiti state contingent also joined other states of the Federation in the colourful official opening ceremony which was held at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Sunday.
