Nigeria’s 5th telecoms network service provider, operator of the recently acquired former National carrier,  the Nigeria Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), now Ntel on Friday announced roll out of full commercial services in Lagos and Abuja with data and voice over long term evolution offerings.
The chief executive officer of Ntel, Kamar Abass, said the company was committed to building a robust network to champion data evolution in Nigeria with $1 billion investments in the next four years.
He also said Ntel services which would run on the 0804 platform of NITEL would be rolled out in phases.
Kamar explained that the firm has started the commercial activities on its newly commissioned 4G/LTE-Advanced network.
He disclosed that Ntel was starting its commercial operations with bumper offers for early bird pioneers and data users as a fallout of its journey from acquiring NITEL/MTel assets.
He said the commencement of operations was part of the milestones underlining Ntel’s growing operating capability on the new fixed and mobile network infrastructure.
Kamar said: “With the formal commencement, commercial services will be available on Ntel’s Advanced network across key site clusters in Lagos and Abuja. Coverage in Port Harcourt will follow during May, along the expanded coverage in Lagos and Abuja, and subsequently to other states, across multiple geo-political zones, during the second half of 2016.”
