No fewer than 246 teachers nationwide have been trained by the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) on morals and HIV/AIDS prevention strategies.

Speaking at the training session in Katsina State, NTI Director General, Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare, said the training was aimed at increasing the knowledge of teachers on disseminating HIV/AIDS lessons from a moral perspective and associated cultural issues.

He stated that the institute was ready to organise teacher professional development programme on any theme that may be desirable, saying that “NTI has a pool of human and material resources ready to organise any training for teachers.”

In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Education, Dr. Badamasi Lawal, called for more training especially in areas of drugs, violence in schools, cultism  and examination malpractice.
