As part of efforts to improve the standard of education in Nigeria, the National Teachers Institute (NTI) has built the capacity of 3,700 primary school teachers nationwide.

The teachers trained were drawn from the 36 states of the country and the FCT.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training,  NTI Director General, Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare, stressed the need for state ministries of education and universal basic education boards to sponsor the step-down training to enable other teachers benefit from the knowledge acquired.

According to him, the capacity building focused on four thematic areas – effective classroom management skill, language communication skill, ICT and basic teaching methods and techniques.
