The federal government had at the beginning of the year given some local auto assemblers in the country including NTM and some accredited franchise owner to concession to different makes and sizes of buses to cushion the effect created by the negative impact of scarcity of decent transportation system.
In what many industry stakeholders describes as a positive development, the National Trucks Manufacturers Limited (NTM), based in Kano and one of the leading vehicle assembler and manufacturers in Nigeria has once again moved up the ladder with renewed emphasis on improving its after sales service delivery.
A visit to the premises of National Trucks Manufacturers located within
the precincts of Iganmu area of Lagos near the National Theatre reveals that the Kano headquarter automobile assembler occupying an estimate area of 51 hectres of land reveals that, the company is desirous of meeting the sales and service needs of prospective individual and corporate fleet buyers.
The Lagos Service Centre located on Moshood Abiola Way, Iganmu, Lagos is fully operational to meet the needs of customers irrespective of the area. To this end, existing and prospective customers are encouraged to bring in their vehicles for prompt and proper services and general maintenance.
Sources at the company who conducted the media round the service outlet of NTM told our correspondent that, the facility has the capacity to take in about 50 vehicles per day and be sure the customers leave smiling.
Along with the supply of vehicles and after sales servicing facilities, NTM has also promised that, it will ensure that there is availability of spare parts for all our vehicles.
As he put it, “We maintain a large stock of spares at our main warehouse in Kano and control the distribution of these spares throughout Nigeria. We also ensure that the spare parts are original and of the best quality to assure our customers full satisfaction of our products & services.
Along with the supply of vehicles, NTM also provides complete and proper after sale services. NTM has established its own after sales service centers in Kano, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. In addition, NTM also offers Mobile servicing facility.
Recall that when our reporter visited the company last year, the visibly worried Managing Director of NTM Limited, Kano, Ibrahim Bayero, over the wide duty differential for trucks and buses imported into the country had threatened that his company would have no option than to stop assembling of vehicles for finished imported vehicle if the duty differentials between fully built vehicles and locally produced ones do not change. Presently, the duty differential for trucks and buses is only five per cent while that of cars is 15 percent.
With this current development the National Trucks Manufacturers Limited (NTM) should be able to step up production for it to still remain in business for the benefit of Nigerians at large.
