Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Kaduna has commenced accreditation of Professor Ango Abdullahi College of Health Technology and Advanced Studies, Zaria to run diploma programmes in health technology.
Speaking with journalists shortly after a facility tour of the college, Dr. Hauwa Isa, Chairperson Affiliation Committee of the Polytechnic, appreciated the preparation of the college.
Dr. Hauwa, who is also a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology and the Director, School of Applied Science of the Polytechnic, said the visit was to ascertain the capability of the college to run the diploma courses.
“From our assessment, the college has satisfied everything in terms of facilities. However, we have pointed-out some specific areas where they have to remedy before we can give affiliation to them. So far, we cannot say they are excellent. There are some things they need to put in place, but for now things are very good and satisfactory,” she said.
On carrying capacity of the college, she said for now, the college was advised to run two classes with maximum of 40 students per class, saying Nuhu Bamallai Polytechnic was giving priority to quality of students the institution graduate.
On his part, the Director of the College, Dr. Aliyu Shamsuddeen, said some of the courses to be offered by the college include; environmental studies, nursing and community health, dental therapy, physiotherapy, medical laboratory and science laboratory technology among others.
