The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ekiti State is contemplating blacklisting the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) over the a case of assault on its members.
The attack was said to have happened at the entrance of the institution, where the newsmen went to cover the protest by the workers over non-payment of their allowances spanning two years.
The chairman, Ekiti State NUJ chapter, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, condemned the attack and called on the union leaders to fish out the perpetrators of the act failure of which the union would not hesitate to blacklist the activities of NASU and SSANU of the institution.
When contacted, spokesman of FUOYE, Adeyinka Ademuyiwa, denied knowledge of the attack, adding that he was not around when the protest occurred.
