NUJ,media stakeholders to appraise operations in the north

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the north and other stakeholders in the northern media industry will summon a meeting to reappraise media operation in the region.

NUJ deputy national president Mukhtar Gidado disclosed this in Bauchi while speaking to journalists, insisting operations of the media in the north is facing challenges compared to their southern counterparts.

According to him, stakeholders in the media industry from the 19 northern states and the FCT  are expected to brainstorm and find lasting solutions on the challenges of media operation in the area.

Gidado said chairmen and secretaries of state councils of the union in the north will be part of the meeting.

Gidado said now that elections of new leaders of the union is approaching, the need for putting the media into the appropriate state cannot be over emphasised.

Date and venue of the meeting is yet to be announced.
