Five-year-old girl dies inside well

Residents of Zuma Rock community, near Maddalla town of Niger State, were recently thrown into mourning when a five-year-old girl fell and died inside a well in the area.

A resident of the community, Danjuma Bala, who disclosed this to our reporter, said the incident happened about 2:12p.m. when the deceased followed her mother to fetch water from the well.
 He said after the mother had finished fetching water, she left the little girl behind, but before she could return, the five-year-old took the drawing bowl, and in an attempt to fetch water from the well, she slipped and fell inside.
 

Bala said the deceased’s mother raised the alarm which attracted the attention of some neighbours when she returned but could not find the drawing container and her child.
  City News gathered that the father of the deceased, who was at his farm when the incident happened, later rushed back and mobilised local well diggers at Madalla to remove the corpse of the girl for burial.
