Project management experts are fine tuning aspects that would bring them recognition as body of professionals by way of producing a bill that will be forwarded to the 8th National Assembly soon.
Oluyemi Shonubi, MD/CEO Savant Integrated Concepts Ltd., a Lagos-based development management, project and business advisory services firm, who spoke on behalf of other board members of the National Association of Project Management Professionals (NAPMP), said soon a national project management national will hold in November
She said project management has to do with the idea of being accountable, professional and ethical, of doing things the right way, or following prescribed known skills using methodologies and technology to achieve results.
Shonubi said hundreds of millions of naira valued projects remained abandoned in Nigeria due to poor execution, lack of oversight , lack of quality control checks and procurement materials are substandard hence the need for institutionalised project management for every project.
She said a project is any endeavour that has a defined beginning and end and uses different level of complexity, men, money and materials to determine its success albeit within cost, budget and specifications.
Oluyemi Shonubi said a register would soon be established for members including a code of conduct, an ethics and disciplinary committee all aimed at usurping the activities of quacks in the profession.
