Bauchi LG begins tree planting campaign

Itas Gadau Local Government Council of Bauchi State has launched tree planting campaign to fight desertification and desert encroachment in the area.
Speaking during the flag-off of the exercise in Itas, acting chairman of the local government, Alhaji Ahmad Katibu Misau, said the local government is emulating the state government in the fight against desert encroachment.
It will be recalled that the state Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, had at the flag-off of this year’s Tree Planting Campaign in Azare directed each of the 20 local governments to plant and nurture two hectares of trees.
