An Abuja-based lawyer Onyechi Egwuonwu has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase over the attempted murder of his client, Haliru Ismaila an FCT revenue agent.
In the petition to the IGP dated November 23, 2015, the lawyer alleged that on November 20, 2011, while traveling to Suleija on the Kubwa-Zuba expressway, his client was overtaken by an SUV and some men in the vehicle were pointing menacingly in his direction forcing him to drive into a crowded area.
The lawyer said there has been serious bickering since the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Micah Jiba also authorised a different firm, Abuja Municipal Trade and Investment Company Ltd for the collection of revenue within the municipal areas covered by his client.
Ismaila, who is the manager director of Sadisco Integrated Services Ltd, was on July 29, 2015 mandated by the FCTA Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS) as its agent to enforce and collect revenue from outdoor mobile advertisement and signage within AMAC subject to the bye law gazetted in March, 2013 on outdoor advertising for the six area Councils of the FCT.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of AMAC, Micah Jiba has resolved to settle the dispute between two firms over the outdoor mobile revenue collection in the council.
