The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) yesterday arraigned one Alhaji Ibrahim Kamba before Justice Mohammed Balami of the Abuja High Court, sitting in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on a nine-count charge bordering on stealing and forgery.
Kamba was arrested following a petition by First Choice Properties Limited who claimed that they had been hoodwinked to part with N300 million for a parcel of land in Dape district of the FCT.
Counsel to the EFCC, Salisu Majibadi while reading out the charges revealed that the act was committed in 2011, when the accused fraudulently obtained N300million from First Choice Properties Limited, with a forged Right of Occupancy (R of O) certificate for the land.
Alhaji Kamba who pleaded not guilty to the charges was arrested in 2013 and had been on administrative bail before yesterday’s arraignment.
In view of his plea, his counsel O.J Aboje prayed the court to grant his client bail. However, counsel to the EFCC, Salisu Majibadi asked the court to remand the defendant in prison custody and to fix a date for hearing.
Justice Mohammed Balami adjourned the case to today for hearing of the bail application and ordered the defendant be remanded in EFCC custody.
