Eight hundred and seventy members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Zamfara State have received training on bomb detection, disposal and other security related issues in Kano State.
At the presentation of certificates of attendance to the trainees, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Abdullahi Muhammad Shinkafi, said the training was necessary in view of the current security situation.
“The security situation in the country and the world at large is bad. If you listen to the local and foreign media, killings have dominated their news content. In Nigeria, we are faced with insurgency and cattle rustling,” he added.
He said for the society to get out of the current predicament, good family values must be upheld, adding that parents must make sure they train their children properly.
