Banking activities were yesterday grounded in branches of Access Bank in Enugu following the execution of a N636 million judgment against the bank.
Daily Trust learnt that the legal tussle which began several years ago, ended at the Supreme Court in April this year, with the court ruling in favour of the plaintiff, F. G. Onyenwe Motors Nigeria Limited.
Our  correspondent, who monitored the execution, observed that the court officials carried the bank’s property, including computers and vehicles while the gates were shut against customers.
The execution that commenced  at the bank’s regional headquarters,  Garden Avenue in Enugu, was also carried out at the Ogui Road branch.
Customers ran from one branch of the bank to another to make quick withdrawals but failed since banking activities were stopped.
Lawyers to the judgment creditor, court bailiffs and policemen from the state police command enforced the judgment which attracted  hundreds of passersby to the scene.
