Forty-six new customary court judges have been sworn in by the Ogun State judiciary with a charge to exhibit a high sense of responsibility without fear or favour in the discharge of their duties.
The state Chief Judge, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade, said at the swearing-in ceremony in Abeokuta yesterday that the appointment of the judicial officers into the state judiciary was expected to strengthen the dispensation of justice, particularly at the grassroots, adding that they were expected to be through, painstaking and courageous in handling matters before them.
She advised them to shun vices as the state would not condone any act  of corruption, noting that the Judicial Service Commission would continue to sanction erring staff as appropriate.
The Secretary, State Judicial Commission, Mr. Kolawole Peters, said over 100 applications were received out of which 70 were shortlisted and 46 were selected after a written examination.
One of the judges, Chief Emmanuel Sokunle, thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve, pledging that they would put in their best.
