The Rivers State Police Command said yesterday that its operatives had rescued two persons abducted by unknown gunmen at Umuebele Waterfront near Port Harcourt. It was the second time police rescued kidnapped victims at the same spot, Daily Trust gathered.
The command in a press statement signed by its spokesman, Ahmad Muhammad, said a tactical unit of the command stormed Umuebele Waterfront and rescued Chris Lebare and George Amuobi who were kidnapped at different spots along Rumuokoro Road in Port Harcourt.
The statement added that three of the kidnappers were fatally wounded.
“ A tactical unit of the command stormed Umubele waterfront in Port Harcourt and successfully rescued two more kidnapped victims namely Chris Lebare and George Amuobi. They were kidnapped on 22/11/2015 along Rumuokoro/Rumuigbo roads in Port Harcourt,” he said.
He said two locally made pistols, one axe and charms were recovered from the kidnappers.
