Newly elected executive council of the Arewa Youth Enlightenment and Empowerment Initiative has taken a decision to educate youths in Northern Nigeria on entrepreneurship as a way of developing the region.
Exco members of the group which met in Kaduna agreed that empowering the youth through entrepreneurship, capacity development and policy advocacy will go a long way in giving the youths a sense of belonging.
Publicity secretary of the organization, Musaddiq Mustapha, said members at the meeting agreed that there are opportunities for youths of the region to explore to better their lot, but that there are enormous challenges of transforming the vast potentials and talents.
“We have decided to take the future of the region and the country in our hands through our key areas of enlightenment and empowerment,” he said.
He said under the enlightenment programme, youths would be encouraged to pursue qualitative education in order to take away their attention from social vices.
“It will also serve as a platform for dialogue in bridge building across cultures for the better understanding of the youths for coexistence,” he added.
