A group of women yesterday protested to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Lokoja over the ensuing political crisis in Kogi State.
The women who were dressed in black attires, accused INEC of being responsible for the ongoing crisis in Kogi, adding that the commission should not have declared the election inconclusive in the first place.
Leader of the group, Hajia Hadeza Akuh, said the women were at the INEC headquarters to demand that the mandate jointly given to late Audu and Faleke be restored to the “rightful owners”.
She insisted that the December 5 supplementary election was not necessary because “votes cannot be transferred to a candidate who was not part of the election”, stressing that the electorate know who they voted for.
She maintained that while women were still trying to get over the death of Prince Abubakar Audu, “the APC is compounding our problem by bringing on board somebody to take over Audu’s votes and structure”.
The protesting women carried placards with inscriptions such as: “Do not rob Peter to pay Paul”, “Our mandate is our right”,  “INEC we need justice.”  “INEC there is God ooo” among others.
