Police in Zaria have recovered about 240 cows that were rustled from Zamfara State.
Police Area Commander in charge of Zaria, Muhammad D. Shehu, who made this known yesterday, said the cows had been handed over to their owners.
He added that another set of 193 cows were recovered in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“Last week, we received a report of some stolen cows that were found in Ikara Local Government. We sent our men to the area, but on sighting them, the rustlers ran away and abandoned the cows. So far, we have recovered 193 cows and 73 sheep from that area. The state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was here last week and he inspected these cows,” he said.
He added that in the past one month, his command recovered 597 cows and hundreds of sheep from rustlers. He said the 193 cows and 73 sheep recovered in Ikara were still in police custody awaiting their owners.
