Babishai Poetry festival to flag off soon

Babishai Poetry Festival has been scheduled for August 26 to 28 in Uganda, with a $1, 000 BN Poetry Award up for grabs.
Amu Nnadi, author of the award winning poetry collection, ‘Through the Window of a sandcastle’ and Remi Raj, president of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) will facilitate the poetry master classes at the festival, while Parresia’s COO, Richard Ali, a Nigerian, would be on the board and be one of the judges for 2015.
Activities will include, empowering vulnerable artists through ‘The Poetry of Dance, Olga Walusimbi of Dance Sphere Studios’, exposition on risks and opportunities of political poetry by John Stewart of Zimbabwe, book signings, the award proper and much more.
The award is a product of Kampala-based Babishai Niwe Poetry Foundation, partner to Nigeria’s Parresia. It is the only African poetry prize open to all Africans.
