NUP tasks PTAD on prompt payment of entitlements

National President of NUP, comrade Abel Afolayan who spoke in Abuja also advised government agencies to pay senior citizens their entitlement before the 2015 general elections.
Comrade Afoloyan disassociated himself with a comment credited to one E. A Omoyeni calling on Federal Government to bring back the former chairman of disbanded Pension Reform Task Team to work with the Pension Transitional Administration Department (PTAD).
He warned unauthorized individuals against speaking for the union and pledged the support of the NUP to PTAD as a means to enable it deliver on its mandate.
Comrade Afoloyan said, “We shall not allow the detractors and the sworn enemies of the union to distract it from its focus on the task ahead of it.”
“Between now and election, we want our outstanding arrears to be paid so that our people will not die. We are also saying, those governors that want pensioners to die, we will not support them,” he added.
He pleaded with the ministry of finance and the budget offices, to release funds to the Pension Transition Administration Department (PTAD) to enable them pay the pensioners.
He asked the management of PTAD to step up efforts in the payment of some outstanding arrears of pensions of various categories.
Comrade Afoloyan further urged for the payment of new enrollees as well as payment of pension and death gratuities to the deserving pensioners in order to convince the apprehensive pensioners of its action plan.
