The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) may go on a nationwide strike against the alleged victimisation of their leaders.

The two groups made the threat while addressing journalists after a joint NUPENG/PENGASSAN council meeting in Enugu.

The organisations also enjoined relevant stakeholders, including the Federal Government and the multinational oil companies, to abolish the practice of casualisation of  work   in the oil and gas industry.

The NUPENG/PENGASSAN Joint Forum equally demanded an immediate passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill  (PIB) by the National Assembly and called on security agents to investigate the brutal murder of one of their leaders, Mr. Bankole Orasanya, a staff of Halliburton   by unknown persons in Port Harcourt, Rivers State .
