The Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), has staged a peaceful protest over what they described as discriminatory and bias by the Federal Ministry of Health on the implementation of government policies on career progressing of nurses.

Chairman of FTH Gombe chapter of the association, Dahiru Mohammed Kala stated this on Wednesday at the protest rally which held at the premises of the hospital.

The chairman said they decided to embark on the protest in order to bring the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari to the plight and sufferings being meted out to nurses and midwives under the ministry.

“Implementation of government policies and directives on carrier for nurses and midwives which has created too much tension and lack of team work among the various health professional in our various hospital,” he said.

Secretary of the association, Gambo Danfulani Miringa, said the association has exhausted all known labour and legal means on the issues, and judgment was given in their favour but the federal government refused to obey.
