The Union representing all Nigerian Nurses has declared a 7-day nationwide strike affecting federal, state, and local government hospitals. This action is not led by NANNM but by the collective voice of Nigerian nurses who have endured years of neglect, injustice, and hardship.

Dear patients and families,

We love you deeply and remain committed to your care and recovery. Every moment by your bedside is an honor to us. But today, we step away not out of abandonment but as a necessary cry for help.

We are hungry, exhausted, and overworked.

We are financially broken, emotionally drained, and mentally strained.
Many of us cannot even afford the food we eat, the clothes we wear, or the medicine we need.

And our only ‘crime’? Was that we chose to stay in Nigeria to care for you, even though our colleagues who traval abroad to serve as Nurses are treated with respect and dignity.

This strike is not a strike against you it is a strike to heal ourselves, so that we can come back stronger to care for you even better. No one can pour from an empty cup. A Nurse who is not emotionally, morally, socially, or financially well cannot deliver the care our patients deserve.

We ask you, dear Nigerians, to stand with us in this just cause. Let’s build a country where nurses are respected, cared for, and empowered, because when nurses are happy, every patient will be better cared for.

We pray that God Almighty touches the heart of our President, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to listen and take urgent action.
