NURTW to sponsor member on Indian medical trip

President of NURTW Najeem Yasin disclosed when he visited the victim at his Ilorin residence in company of the union’s state chairman Aliyu Ore.
Mukaila, a member of the Baboko Unit of the Kwara State chapter of NURTW was reportedly shot by armed robbers in a village along Oyo-Ogbomoso Road in November, 2013 and was admitted at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where he received treatment for three months before he was discharged and returned home.
A Consultant, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. M.F Adeyemi, who has been handling his case had in a letter dated February 12th, 2014, referred him to Fortis Hospital, New Delhi, India “for further management” based on personal request.
The consultant stated that though, the patient had undergone series of corrective medical stages, his facial appearance and feeding habit could not be restored with prosthesis. He therefore referred him to India for a reconstructive surgery which is expected to cost N5m.
The President disclosed that the victim would be sponsored to India for the trip, while reiterating the union’s commitment to welfare of its members.
Yasin expressed sadness over the incident and promised that the union would foot the victim’s medical bill and travelling expenses including his son, who will accompany him to India for the treatment.
